Intermission

Part three of why I write is coming soon, I promise. In the meantime this intermission can serve as a primer for the discussion. I found this quiz on Quiz Farm and I thought it was blog-worthy. I usually only post these quizes on Myspace but I thought I would try this one out here. I don’t think that my results are necessarily spot-on (I think I’m more Reformed/Evangelical than modern or classic liberal). But I think they are fairly close (I was not surprised to score high in my top 3). You can take the quiz by clicking on the link at the bottom. If you happen to take the quiz lemmeno what your results are. Here’s How I fared:

You scored as Neo orthodox. You are neo- orthodox. You reject the human-centredness and skepticism of liberal theology, but neither do you go to the other extreme and make the Bible the central issue for faith. You believe that Christ is God’s most important revelation to humanity, and the Trinity is hugely important in your theology. The Bible is also important because it points us to the revelation of Christ. You are influenced by Karl Barth and PT Forsyth.

  1. You scored as Emergent/Postmodern. You are Emergent/Postmodern in your theology. You feel alienated from older forms of church, you don’t think they connect to modern culture very well. No one knows the whole truth about God, and we have much to learn from each other, and so learning takes place in dialogue. Evangelism should take place in relationships rather than through crusades and altar-calls. People are interested in spirituality and want to ask questions, so the church should help them to do this.

There are my results, even though I dont really agree with the wording that comes with yor results, it was kind of fun, but the wording on half of the questios is bull shit, because they give you a bunch of stupid one liners that are rediculously worded and the but of many christian jokes, and then the other questios are like, ” Do you think traditions are important too?”. but hey whatever it was kind of fun and a waist of time.

  2. You scored as Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan.

You are an evangelical in the Wesleyan tradition. You believe that God’s grace enables you to choose to believe in him, even though you yourself are totally depraved. The gift of the Holy Spirit gives you assurance of your salvation, and he also enables you to live the life of obedience to which God has called us. You are influenced heavly by John Wesley and the Methodists.

At least classical liberal was last. Not sure what to think about my scores because I didnt get a few of the questions. Anyway…what do you think about my scores Wayne-O? Neo-Orthy was number 2. Jim got emergant…suprise suprise. Our Weslyan scores weren’t that different, actually. The other quiz I took said I was Orthodox Quaker…whatever that means.

I got Reformed Evangelical and, like the impatient person I am, I forgot to copy my scores before I closed the window. Of course, quizzes like these mean very little, since most of the questions are way to open ended for my liking. I seemed to choose the middle of the road for most of the questions, so maybe that indicates that I felt, like any good reformed thinker (ha-ha), that I needed more information before I could develop an informed opinion. But hey, it was fun for about five minutes.
