Changes

This was always one of my favorite pics of Tupac Shakur. It is from the inside album art of his best album ever, Me against the World. It was Tupac’s best because it displayed a different side of the Man, from the more laid back sound, the ballad about Mama to his first album cover photo shoot without hats and bandannas.

This site is also seeing some changes. The most obvious are the cosmetic differences: a slight change in address, a new look powered by word press instead of blogger, added pages and more features. I think the change to word press will be cool; it is a powerful little blogging tool and offers more options than blogger – no offense to my peeps still using blogger. One of my favorite of the aesthetic changes is the categories feature. This allows readers to sift by – what else -different categories of posts.

On a less superficial note, I hope to add more content about what is happening in my life. My next post – when I get a chance – will hopefully include some pretty cool pictures of our trip to Seattle. I also hope to throw more of my poetry out there to share with ya’all. It may be no Tupac, Sinéad O’Connor or early Bono but I hope you like it.

Lastly, this may be an odd time to announce this – seeing how I have this wonderful new site to play with – but I will not be writing quite as much over the next five weeks or so. Out there in the green and beautiful state of Washington when I could scarcely check my blog I remembered something that I tried to remind myself of months ago, flesh and blood relationships and priorities still trump any cyber-obligations I may believe I have. Also the next several weeks are crunch time at school so writing papers kind of trumps writing blog-post. However I will still try to do a little something each week – just not like seven a month (at least for a while).

Finally, allow me to hit you with the lyrics to one more fantastic song about change by this band:

from this classic album:

Richard Shannon Hoon (September 26, 1967 – October 21, 1995)

I don’t feel the suns comin’ out today
Its staying in, it’s gonna find another way.
As I sit here in this misery, I don’t
Think I’ll ever see the sun from here.
And oh as I fade away,
They’ll all look at me and say, and they’ll say,
Hey look at him! I’ll never live that way.
But that’s okay
They’re just afraid to change.
When you feel your life ain’t worth living
You’ve got to stand up and
Take a look around you then a look way up to the sky.
And when your deepest thoughts are broken,
Keep on dreaming boy, cause when you stop dreamin’ it’s time to die.
And as we all play parts of tomorrow,
Some ways will work and other ways we’ll play.
But I know we all can’t stay here forever,
So I want to write my words on the face of today.
And then they’ll paint it
And oh as I fade away,
They’ll all look at me and they’ll say,
Hey look at him and where he is these days.
When life is hard, you have to change.

Words to live by from a man who unfortunately did not.

Until next time keep it real.

Shalom,

Wayne

  1. Wonderful!, I love ya bro, and I will always be proud. Maybe the next should have just been in an e-mail, but oh well. First, yes lets hang some time soon, next I love the new site, I love you using you thoughts, talents and creativity! (keep on keeping on). Also the conviction you have stumbled on in last couple of weeks, is also what God has shouted at me the last year or so, RELATIONSHIPS!!!!! Technology is a fun little world, but oh how the human touch can pierce right through!

I hope you had a great trip!
